How the SBGI Program Works

A clear, guided process designed to help eligible Illinois small businesses access technical assistance, strengthen operations, and prepare for growth opportunities.

Here’s what to expect when you work with us:

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Complete a short eligibility form so our team can review your business information and determine whether your business qualifies for SBGI services. Eligible businesses will be invited to complete the full application.

Step 2: Receive Your Service Plan

Our intake team reviews your business needs, identifies priority opportunities, and outlines recommended technical assistance services and next steps for program participation.

Step 3: Connect With Service Providers

Eligible participants are connected with appropriate accounting, legal, financial, and advisory support resources based on identified business needs.

Step 4: Build Business Readiness

Participants work toward stronger financial organization, improved operational readiness, and greater preparedness for future growth and capital opportunities.

How Long Does It Take? 

Every business is different. Service timelines vary based on business needs, program scope, and participant responsiveness throughout the process.

What’s the Cost?

There is no cost to eligible participants for approved services. Funding provided in whole or in part by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
